Subtle Choices for Change

Each choice we make moves us, changes us and ripples beyond us. Some very subtle choices are simply start with thoughts that, at first, may seem so small a step. Those thoughts may, at a glance, shrink in comparison to the BIG changes you desire. They are, however, no less powerful than the choice you make to drop your savings as a deposit on a new house, change careers, enroll your child in this school vs. that one,l or even the choice about what's for dinner...seemingly small but listening to an Inner voice, a thought, an impulse to try something or say no to something, can lead to change. Maybe the change allows the fruition of sitting back and basking in the success of a meal your family was nourished by and laughed together in.

Changes take time...and when others are involved in those changes, honoring their processes will only facilitate the changes you're working toward. For today, try a small change with a thought. Notice a complaint or grumble come from your mouth. Capture it, wrestle with it a moment if needed, and wonder about the moment or situation. Choose to change your experience in THAT moment.

For me, I've often found great humor in my behaviors or thoughts when I grab them before they "go too far" from me. The more I practice this, the less impact the ones I don't want "out there" have and the "after effect" of rerouting my thoughts has greater influence on those around me, especially my children.

Go ahead and grumble about something...just hear it and decide to change it. If you end up chuckling about the moment, the silliness of what you just attached your emotional energy to, please share in the comments below or send me quick note.

My favorite quote and email signature is "You'll never know how far reaching something you say, think, or do today may effect the lives of millions tomorrow." BJ Palmer, DC

Go ahead, invite and embrace change...and choose to enjoy the process.
