The simple and quick reminder of "I am here" has increased my ability to more fully engage in the steps of "now". It's not that I don't still see the bigger journey ahead, still prepare and regularly evaluate where, when, how I'm doing on it. It IS, however, an opportunity to most effectively connect with the present piece (Peace) of it that I'm experiencing. Maybe, when you feel your heart begin to race a bit, your breath getting a little shorter and the weight of the many "to do"'s, maybe you'll think about trying just a few deep breaths, slowing yourself, connecting to your present and being reminded that "I am here".
In a recent class I attended, I was reminded of a gentle, centering, breathing exercise or meditation. On the inhale think "I am" and on the exhale "here". When I heard this shared, it resonated and no surprise, the thought to practice it has been 'up' since. For me, function has been a priority and I'm often anticipating the needs of the obligations and commitments I've made, seeing the big picture and all that will be needed to get there.
